Should I study Spanish (Latin America) or Spanish (Spain)?

We offer two versions of Rosetta Stone Spanish: one that teaches Latin American Spanish and one that teaches European Spanish. The language used in the two products differs in spelling, pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary. Although each region offers a variety of different accents, we’ve chosen an accent for each (Latin America and Spain) that is widely comprehensible.

Our Spanish (Latin America) product uses pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar common to many parts of Central and South America as well as in Mexico. Most native Spanish speakers in the United States also commonly use or recognize this version. Latin American countries that speak Spanish include Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, and Venezuela.

Rosetta Stone Spanish (Spain)

The dialect used in our Spanish (Spain) product, often called Castilian (Castellano), is considered the standard dialect of Spain.
