Language Training is the cornerstone of your experience as you learn a language. You will learn exclusively in your new language, without translation, quickly gaining the confidence to communicate. The Rosetta Stone immersion based learning method immediately teaches you to think in a new language by connecting words with vivid imagery in real-life contexts to convey meaning. Language Training keeps track of your progress along the way and you can reinforce your learning on the go with the Audio Companion. Language Training is divided into units with Lessons and Focused Activities. Core Lessons will teach you your new language, while Focused Activities build skills and reinforce the language you've learned. There are four core lessons and a Milestone within one unit. There are four units per level. Return to top
1. Click on continue next to your learn name to advance to the Homescreen. Here are brief descriptions of the different curriculum options: Can I disable or edit the Speech feature? Speech recognition contributes to complete immersion into your new language and we recommend using it throughout Language Training. However, you can complete lessons in the program without using speech recognition. When speech recognition is disabled, the native speaker in the program pronounces sounds, words and phrases for you, but you aren't required to repeat them. The screen advances once the speaker finishes. If you wish to continue without speech recognition for a single activity, you can turn it off by selecting "Continue without speech for this session." If you wish to turn off speech recognition overall, use a different headset, or edit the speech precision level, you can enter any activity from your Homescreen, then click the Preferences icon To select a different headset, choose from the list of available microphones under ''Device Settings or Select microphone." To disable the speech feature for all lessons, un-check the box in "Speech Recognition Settings" that says "Use speech recognition." To raise or lower the speech precision level, adjust the slider for Pronunciation Setting as desired. When you are done adjusting settings, click 'apply changes' at the bottom. Return to top How do I edit my sound preferences? Language Training allows you to adjust audio device settings and speech recognition settings, such as the Speech Precision Level. You can click the "Pause Button" just before your screen advances, if you want to pause and review before moving on to the next screen. When are you ready to resume your activity, click the "Advance Button" to continue. While, once you enter a Speaking activity, you’ ll immediately be prompted to speak in the language you’re learning, you can still pause this activity as well. Return to top How do I get a green check mark for passing Lessons? To ensure you understand your new language, the following components of the program are scored:
Return to top What is Adaptive Recall? Adaptive Recall schedules the day on which you should repeat a lesson's Review activity. By scheduling review lessons at optimal intervals, Adaptive Recall is designed to help you efficiently retain what you learn without wasting time reviewing material that you already know well. By presenting review material at just the right time, Adaptive Recall helps you transfer new language from short-term to long-term memory. Your performance during Review activities determines how often you see Adaptive Recall activities. As you complete the Adaptive Recall activity, you'll see a notification window informing you that the same material will appear again on or before a specific date. Each level has four units, and each unit has four review activities. As a result, there could be up to 16 Adaptive Recall activities (4x4) for each language level and you may encounter multiple Adaptive Recall activities at once. If you don't want to complete the Adaptive Recall, instead of clicking the "Continue" button that starts the Adaptive Recall review, you can use the Navigator on your Homescreen to select another Lesson. You will still be able to return to the Adaptive Recall at any later time. Return to top Can I reset my progress? If you wish to repeat completed activities, you can select the activity you wish to repeat from the Homescreen . Rosetta Stone will ask if you want to continue your current progress or to reset your score and restart the activity. Click reset your score if you want to be re-scored on the activity. Return to top

For some languages, you can click the special outlined character key to insert characters with accent marks and other symbols that create new sounds or letters, such as á, ö, ñ, ç.
Entering your answer Once you have finished typing your answer in the white box, you will want to hit the "Enter" key on your keyboard or the "green check mark/orange X" key on the virtual keyboard in the program to submit your answer. It is important to note that you do not want to click the icon with two arrows in the bottom corner of the photo because this will advance you to the next photo and not accept your answer, regardless of if it was correct or incorrect! It is also important to note that when you are typing sentences, the program may be case sensitive and you will want to use the proper case on relevant letters and punctuate your sentences. Note: If you keep getting answers wrong, double check that the spelling and punctuation is correct, or click the show answers button to help identify any mistakes you have made. Half form characters in the Hindi program Rosetta Stone's Hindi typing exercises require the creation of half-form characters. In most cases you can create a half-form by typing the full-form character followed by the character highlighted in the image below.
Sometimes the half-form will not appear until after you type the next full character after the full-form character. Return to top Rosetta Stone Alphabet Feature The alphabet feature allows you to view and listen to the characters of the language you are learning. The alphabet will be displayed on the left hand-side of the pop-up screen. After clicking a letter, it can be viewed by itself and in context of several words. You can hear the sound of the letter and the words by clicking the sound button. To access your alphabet screen, click the question mark icon in the top-right corner of the screen, and select "Show Alphabet".
