Focused Tips for Language Learning (web)


Focused tips help you understand what each type of exercise in the program is asking you to do. These tips appear at the top of the screen when you encounter a new type of exercise for the very first time, showing instructions on how to complete that exercise.

There are 15 types of exercises that prompt the user to Select, Speak, or Type with Focused Tips:

Selection Exercises

  1. Select the image that matches the spoken words or text.

 
  1. Select the word or phrase that matches the image.

 
  1. Select the image that matches the spoken words.

 
  1. Select the image that matches the text.

 
  1. Select the spoken words or text that matches the image.

 
  1. Select the word or phrase that completes the sentence.

 
  1. Select the text that matches the image.

 

Speaking Exercises

  1. Speak clearly and respond to what you heard.

 
  1. Speak clearly and repeat the word or phrase.

 
  1. Read the word or phrase aloud.

 
  1. Speak clearly and repeat the word or phrase you heard.

 
  1. Speak clearly and respond with the correct phrase.

 
  1. Speak clearly and repeat what you hear.

 

Typing Exercises

  1. Use the keyboard to type what you heard.

 
  1. Use the keyboard to type your answer.


Please Note:

  • Focused tips are available in the web version of the program for personal online subscriptions and education/enterprise Foundations users. Tips are not available for mobile at this time.
  • Tips are available for all languages and appear in the selected interface language. Available interface languages include English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese.
  • Focused tips only appear the very first time a learner views a new type of activity and cannot be prompted on the same profile again.
