Headset Selection and Configuration Rosetta Stone® speech-recognition technology is a key element of our language-learning solution. In order to utilize this feature, you'll need a heaset or earbuds equipped with a microphone. First, click here to make sure you headset will work with Rosetta Stone Language Learning. 3. Speak into the microphone in a normal tone. Say "1, 2, 3, 4, 5." If your setup wasn't successful, click "Repeat Setup" and try again. The screen shot below displays the microphone setup screen.
Configuring Your Microphone in Mac OS X
1. Plug your device into an available port. 2. Click the Apple icon on the upper-left corner the screen. 3. Select "System Preferences". 4. Click on the Sound icon (located on the far right of the Hardware row).
6. Select your headset as the output device. It may be listed as C-Media Audio Device, VoIP Device, or other device. 7. Adjust the Output volume to 30%. 8. Click on the Input tab and select your device as the input device. The device will have the same name as the one you selected in the output tab. 9. Adjust the input volume to 50%.
10. Close the Sound window. Configuring Your Headset from the Windows 8 or 10 Control Panel 1. Plug your headset into an available port or compatible 3.5mm port. 2. Click the Windows Key 3. If you're viewing the Control Panel by Category, click "Hardware and Sound" and then Sound. If you're viewing by Large or Small icons, click "Sound". 4. On the Playback tab, highlight your device by clicking on it. Your device may be listed as C-Media Audio Device, VoIP Device if it's a USB headset. If you have a headset with a 3.5mm jack, just choose your sound card. 5. Click the "Set Default" button. If there's a green checkmark next to your preferred device, it's already set as the Default Device. 6. Click the "Properties" button. 7. Click the "Levels" tab. 8. Adjust the Speakers to 30. 9. Click "OK". 10. Click the "Recording" tab. 11. Highlight your device by clicking on it. It should have the same name as the device that you selected in the Playback tab. 12. Click the "Set Default" button. If there's a green checkmark next to your preferred device, it's already set as the Default Device.
Configuring Your Headset from the Windows Vista and Windows 7 Control Panel 1. Plug your headset into an available USB-Port or compatible 3.5mm port. 2. Open the Start menu. 3. Click on the Control Panel. 4. If you're viewing the Control Panel by Category, click "Hardware and Sound" and then Sound. If you're viewing by Large or Small icons, click "Sound". 5. On the Playback tab, highlight your device by clicking on it. Your device may be listed as C-Media Audio Device, VoIP Device if it's a USB headset. If you have a headset with a 3.5mm jack, just choose your sound card. 6. Click the "Set Default" button. If there's a green checkmark next to your preferred device, it's already set as the Default Device. 7. Click the "Properties" button. 8. Click the Levels tab. 9. Adjust the Speakers to 30.

1. Plug your headset into an available port. 2. Open the Start Menu. 3. Click the Control Panel icon. 4. Double-click "Sounds and Audio Devices."If you do not see the Sounds and Audio Devices icon, click "Switch to Classic View" on the upper-left of your screen. 5. Click the "Audio Tab" (see Figure 1). 6. Use the drop-down menu under the Sound playback heading to select your device (see Figure 1). Your device may be listed as C-Media Audio Device, VoIP Device or other device. 7. Use the drop-down menu under the Sound recording heading to select your device (see Figure 1). Select "Use only default devices" to default your settings to the device. 9. Adjust the volume for Sound Playback to approximately 75%. 10. Click "OK" to save the changes. |
