What is Live English Tutoring?

Live English Tutoring is mobile-only (Android) tutoring subscription service for intermediate and advanced English language learners.
  • All tutoring sessions are private 1:1 and 25-minutes long.
  • Every week will have 5 new prepared topics (Monday - Saturday)Live English Tutoring
    • Topics including Business, Career, Culture, Current events, Daily life, English, Entertainment, Interests & hobbies, Technology, and Travel
    • For each topic, the content contains mobile-optimized slides with pictures and text. In addition, each topic has 4-7 predefined vocabulary words
  • You will receive written feedback through the app that is prepared by the tutor that is tangible and actionable.

How can I schedule Live Tutoring sessions?

You can schedule your trial session with an American tutor for only for KRW 2,000 or a whole plan with 15% OFF on your first month.First, please open your Rosetta Stone mobile app.

  • If you do not have a Rosetta Stone account already, please tab “Create an Account” button.
    Then, you can fill out your first name, email address, and password.
    Finally, you can review Terms of User and Privacy Policy before completing learner registration process.
    If you already have an account, you can click “Sign In” to authenticate your product credential.
  • As a next step, you will see these welcome messages and you can schedule your trial session by clicking the button from the main home screen.
  • You can schedule your trial session by clicking the button from the main home screen.
    • Please select date and time.
    • Please choose your tutor from the list.
    • Please choose your topic.
    • Please provide your payment information to process your first trial session. FastSpring is a 3rd party credit card processing vendor that will be used by Rosetta Stone Live English Tutoring.
    • As your first trial session, you will only pay this session for KRW 2,000.
    • Please review topic detail and book your selected session.
    • You will see a confirmation screen with your session date/time as well as detailed topic information. 
  • Once you have scheduled your first trial session, you will see this item on your home screen.
    Additionally, you can see your session overview by tapping the link on top right section of the screen.
    • If you do not have no more available unscheduled sessions, you can click “Get more sessions” to buy additional session packs. Additional subscription plans offer a 15% discount on its first month.
      • Silver Plan - 4 sessions  120,000 KRW  1 month.
      • Gold Plan - 7 sessions  175,000 KRW  1 month.
      • Platinum - 10 sessions   200,000 KRW  1 month.
    • App will indicate expiration dates for remaining unused sessions from the overview.
 

How can I join the session?

Note: For the best experience during the tutoring session, we recommend that you can participate in a location that is quiet with a good signal. Please use a headset with microphone.

  •  Please allow permissions for audio for video on your mobile app. You need to click “ALLOW” for session to start properly.
  • System checker will ensure audio/video permission as well as bandwidth and show the result.
  • Once you click “join session”, you will wait for the tutor from the next screen.
  • Once you join the session, you can mute (or unmute) your audio and video feeds from the menu. And you can type text messages to tutors.

 

How can I manage or cancel my orders?

Please visit this page for more information. You can find more information about how to manage your orders and cancel automatic renewal(s). Please note that you cannot request a refund directly from Manage my orders link. If you wish to request a refund within a refund policy period, please email us at support.kr@rosettastone.com with your recent order number.


What type of notifications will I receive from the app?

Learners will receive the following communications via push notification:

  • Upcoming session in 24 hours - pushed 24 before start time, deep links to tutoring dashboard
  • Upcoming session in 3 hours - pushed 3 hours before start time, deep links to tutoring dashboard
  • Join session now - pushed 5 minutes before start time, deep links to tutoring dashboard
  • New feedback - sent when tutor publishes feedback, deep links to feedback list
  • Session cancelled - sent when session is cancelled by Rosetta Stone (e.g. in event Tutor is unable to make the session and there is no substitution, deep links to tutoring dashboard). When the session is canceled, it will be removed from their "upcoming sessions"

Written Feedback from tutors and in-app vocabulary

  • After each tutoring session, learners will receive written feedback through the app prepared by the tutor, that is tangible and actionable.
  • Over the course of the beta, we will be asking the tutors to experiment with different types of feedback.
  • Learners can see a quick glance of 4 speaking skills.
  • In addition to written feedback, learners will also be able to review and study vocabulary in-app. Vocabulary is derived from the session content and from their tutor.  
  • Vocabulary words are organized by tutoring session and can be viewed in list form for a single session or many sessions in aggregate.

Troubleshooting tips for audio and video issues

  • Tutor cannot hear me during the mobile tutoring session:
    • Scenario for background noise
      • Please verify if you joined the session with a headset with microphone. If no headset is available, then please move to a quieter place if possible.
    • Scenario for no sound at all from a learner
      • Please verify if you are currently not muted by looking at the audio status from the top of your screen.
      • Please verify if  you are using a headset.
        • If yes, then please check to make sure it is fully plugged in
      • Please review your signal strength bar on the device.
        • If low (showing 0-1 bars), then please move to another location to improve this signal.
  • I cannot hear my tutor during the mobile tutoring session:
    • Scenario for no sound at all from a tutor:
      • Please make sure your volume on the device is turned up
        • Typically volume controls are on the side of the device
      • Please verify if you are using a headset
        • If yes, then please check to make sure it is fully plugged in
      • Please review your signal strength bar on the device.
        • If low (showing 0-1 bars), then please move to another location to improve this signal.
  • My screen or session freezes during the mobile tutoring session:
    • Please review your signal strength bar on the device.
      • If low (showing 0-1 bars), then please move to another location to improve this signal.
    • Please close out of other apps
      • Click on the Recent Apps menu/button at the bottom of the device (this button may be at the bottom right or left, depending upon manufacturer)
      • Close out of all applications other than Rosetta Stone
      • DO NOT click on “Close All”, this will close all apps including Rosetta Stone which will close the session
  • I cannot see my tutor’s video during the mobile tutoring session:
    • Please review your signal strength bar on the device.
      • If low (showing 0-1 bars), then please move to another location to improve this signal.
    • Please close out of other apps
      • Click on the Recent Apps menu/button at the bottom of the device (this button may be at the bottom right or left, depending upon manufacturer)
      • Close out of all applications other than Rosetta Stone
      • DO NOT click on “Close All”, this will close all apps including Rosetta Stone which will close the session
