Rosetta Stone® Reading for Homeschool - How is rate measured in fluency activities? Does the Maze task itself affect reading rate?

Fluency activities in the later levels of Rosetta Stone® Reading for Homeschool (grade 2 – grade 5 material) use timed passage reading to develop the underlying skills of speed and accuracy that contribute to fluent reading.  This strand of online activities utilizes Maze passage completion as the primary task to develop and assess fluency.

Rate in Rosetta Stone® Reading for Homeschool fluency activities is calculated as “words read per minute” and the Maze task itself had to be taken into account when determining what norms we can confidently compare students against in Rosetta Stone® Reading for Homeschool fluency activities.
