What kind of chat messages can I send?

Chatting with other Learners in your Language Learning Online Subscription is a great way to practice your new language! Rosetta Stone offers four different ways you can communicate with other learners.

Public Chat
At the lower right hand corner of your screen is a chat room where all learners can have free-form conversation about their new language and/or IN the new language!

Private Chat
Take your conversation to a one-on-one interaction by chatting with just one other learner! To initiate a private chat, hover over the name of the person you’d like to contact and press “Chat”. A new window will appear where you can talk privately with that person.

If you would like to opt out of these chat features, you can choose to “go offline” by clicking the green button in the lower right hand corner (labeled “Connections”. It will turn grey and you will still be able to participate in Games & Activities, but will appear that you are unavailable for chat.

Chat in Talk Games
When you enter into Talk to play games, you have the opportunity to practice your new language in two ways: via text or voice chat! Text chat games give you the opportunity to practice your writing skills with another learner. These types of games are represented by the mouse icon.
