How do I show hidden files and folders?

On Windows Vista and 7

1. Click on Start

2. Click on Control Panel

On the left hand side of the window, if Control Panel Home is selected; Click Appearance and Personalization ; and then select Folder Options .

3. Select the View tab at the top of the window.

4. Under the Advanced settings window , you'll see a folder that says Hidden files and folders . Put the bullet next to Show hidden files and folders .

5. Select Apply and OK .

You will now see hidden files and folders on your computer.

On Windows 8 or 10

1. Press the Windows key on your keyboard and start typing Folder Options and press Enter on your keyboard.

3. In the Folder Options window that appears, click the View tab.

4. Under the Advanced settings window , you'll see a folder that says Hidden files and folders . Put the bullet next to Show hidden files and folders .

5. Select Apply and OK .


On Windows XP

1. Click on Start

2. Click on Control Panel

    If Pick a category is showing, select Switch to Classic View on the left hand side of the window. This will change your view to show you more options. 3. Open Folder Options

    4. Select the View tab at the top of the window

    5. Under the Advanced settings window , you'll see a folder that says Hidden files and folders . Put the bullet next to Show hidden files and folders .

    6. Select Apply and OK .

    You will now see hidden files and folders on your computer.
