Error 5611

Error 5611 can occur while creating your learner or completing your online profile. 

Oftentimes an incorrect internet setting will cause this problem, and can be fixed by making a couple quick adjustments. 


In this solution we'll try the following workarounds:

  • Ensure your date and time is correct
  • Check your internet settings
  • Add exclusions to your firewall program
  • Delete the progress file and recreate the learner

Choose your operating system for instructions:


Windows Vista, 7, 8, or 10 Instructions

Ensure your date and time is correct
  1. Check your Date & Time Settings:
    • Launch Control Panel - Where is Control Panel ?
    • Click on Clock, Language, and Region. View by : should be set to Category.
    • Click on Date and Time.
    • Make sure the shown Time zone is correct to your current location.
      1. If not, click on Change time zone button to make proper changes.
      2. Make sure Automatically adjust clock for Daylight Saving Time is checked as well.
    • Make sure the shown Date and time is correct.
      1. If not, click on Change date and time button to make changes.
      2. Select a proper month, date, and year.
      3. Then make sure proper Hour and minute is chosen.
      4. After making the adjustments, go ahead and click Ok.

  1. Check your Internet Settings.
    • Launch Control Panel - Where is Control Panel ?
    • Click Internet Options.
    • Click on the Connections tab.
    • Click LAN Settings, and ensure Automatically detect settings is checked.          
    • Make sure Proxy Server is unchecked.       
    • Click OK.

    • Click the Advanced tab, scroll to the bottom and make sure the following options are checked:
      • Enable native XMLHTTP support
      • Use SSL 3.0
      • Use TLS 1.0
    • Ensure Use SSL 2.0 is unchecked.

  1. Open Rosetta Stone and try to complete your profile.  If you receive the 5611 error, proceed to the next section.
Add exclusions to you firewall program
  • Click here for the list of files and folders that you need to exclude from your antivirus or security program.
Delete the progress file and recreate the learner
WarningAny learner below the age of 13 will be permanently deleted following these steps.

For Windows Vista and 7.
  1. Click Windows Start .
  2. In the search type: %programdata% and press Enter .
  3. A list of folders will appear. Double-click Rosetta Stone and then Language Training.
  4. Right-click on " tracking.db3 " and click Delete .
  5. Click OK to confirm deletion.
  6. Open Rosetta Stone from the desktop and create a learner.
For Windows 8 and 10.
  1. Press the Windows Key on your keyboard and start typing %programdata% and press Enter.
  2. A list of folders will appear. Double-click Rosetta Stone and then Language Training.
  3. Right-click on " tracking.db3 " and click Delete .
  4. Click OK to confirm deletion.
  5. Open Rosetta Stone from the desktop and create a learner.

Mac OS X Instructions

Ensure your date and time is correct

  1. Click the Apple icon on the menu bar.
  2. Click System Preferences and then Date and time.
  3. Ensure your date and time is correct.
  4. Open Rosetta Stone and try to complete your profile.  If you receive the 5611 error, proceed to the next section.

Ensure your internet settings are correct

  1. Click the Apple icon on the menu bar.
  2. Click System Preferences and then Network.
  3. Click Advanced and then Proxies.
  4. Make sure no proxies are enabled or any boxes are checked where it says Select a protocol to configure.
  5. Click Apply and OK.
  6. Restart your computer. 


Delete the progress file and create a learner
WarningAny learner below the age of 13 will be permanently deleted following these steps.

  1. Click the Finder icon on your dock.
  2. Click the Go drop-down at the top and then Computer .
  3. Click Mac HD Library Application Support Rosetta Stone , and then TOTALe or Language Training if you have both, then please choose Language Training instead.
  4. Control + click on "tracking.db3 " and click "Send to trash" or drag the file to the trash bin.
  5. Start Rosetta Stone from Applications and create a learner.
