How can I remove writing exercises in Version 2 Homeschool SMS?

  1. Launch the SMS Administrator.

  2. Check which Track you use.

    2.1 Open the Instructors folder.

2.2 Open Instructor 1 (or the instructor you are currently using).

    2.3 Open the correct class.

2.4 Open the enrolled Students folder.

2.5 Click on the Student you'd like to remove the writing activities.

2.6 Check the Track (on the right screen, at the top).

If it's something other than Accelerated Level 1/ 2, or Comprehensive Level 1/2, you'll need to determine which Activity Set was used and remove the writing, or 'E', exercises.

3. Adjust the Activity Set for the Accelerated or Comprehensive Track

Adjusting Activity Set for Accelerated Track

1. Open the Activity Sets folder.

2. Click on the sheet for Accelerated 2. If the Track is already accelerated it'll still use Accelerated 2 activities. These are not from level 2 but consistent of a different set of activities.

3. Select the blank from the dropdown menu for E2 (text entry box to type the answer) or E4 (choose from tiles activity) writing activities to remove one or both of these activities.

4. Select Update record--those activities you changed to blank are now removed from the Track.

Adjusting the Activity Set for Comprehensive Track

1. Open the Activity Sets folder.

2. Click on the sheet for Homeschool Wrap-up at the bottom of your screen.

3. Select the blank from the dropdown menu for E2 (text entry box to type the answer) or E4 (choose from tiles activity) writing activities to remove one or both of these activities.

4. Select Update record.

5. Those activities you changed to blank are now removed from the Track.

Disclaimer These steps remove the writing activities for EVERY student currently in this track. To re-enable the writing activities, you'll need to restore the E activities to the original settings.
