How can I find information about my computer, such as the Operating System and amount of RAM?

To find more information about your computer, such as the Operating System, Processor speed, and the amount of RAM, follow these steps:

Windows XP
  1. Right-click the My Computer icon on your desktop.
  2. In the gray box that appears, left-click Properties.
  3. Your System Information will appear in a new window.

Windows Vista or 7
  1. Click the Start button in the bottom left of your screen.
  2. In the Search box type: System Information and press Enter.
  3. Your System Information will appear in a new window.

Windows 8 or 10
  1. Press the Windows Key on your keyboard, and start typing System Information and press Enter.
  2. Your System Information will appear in a new window.

Mac
  1. Click the Black Apple logo in the top left of your screen.
  2. Click About This Mac in the drop down.
  3. Your Version, Processor, and Memory will appear in a new window.
