Error 1053

Error 1053 can occur when the program is trying to start the RosettaStoneDaemon or FLEXnet Licensing Service on a Windows computer.

To fix this on a Windows 7 or 8 computer:

  1. Click the Start button (Windows 7) or press the Windows key on your keyboard (Windows 8)
  2. In the search box, type services.msc and press Enter
  3. You'll then see the Services panel appear
  4. Scroll through the list and find FLEXnet Licensing Service and right click it
  5. Then click Properties in the menu that appears
  6. Click the Log On tab
  7. Check or uncheck the box next to Allow service to interact with the desktop
  8. Click Apply at the bottom
  9. Click the General tab
  10. Click Start under Service Status
  11. Repeat steps 4-10 for RosettaStoneDaemon in the Services list
  12. If no error appears, open Rosetta Stone

Windows 10

  1. Press the Windows logo key Windows logo key +S to open Search
  2. In the search, type services.msc and press Enter
  3. You'll then see the Services panel appear
  4. Scroll through the list and find FLEXnet Licensing Service and right click it
  5. Then click Properties in the menu that appears
  6. Click the Log On tab
  7. Check or uncheck the box next to Allow service to interact with the desktop
  8. Click Apply at the bottom
  9. Click the General tab
  10. Click Start under Service Status
  11. Repeat steps 4-10 for RosettaStoneDaemon in the Services list
  12. If no error appears, open Rosetta Stone
