General

Check the language listed on your Language Level CD's or the Language downloaded and what language appears above the Activation ID boxes. If there is a mismatch, please contact Rosetta Stone Support by clicking here.

On Windows XP

Version 3: 
1.  If your application version is 3.3.5 or below, please see this article on how to download the latest Rosetta Stone application version.  If you still receive the error after updating proceed to step 2 below.

Rosetta Stone Language Learning Program: 
1.  If your application version is not updated to the latest version, please see this article on how to download the latest Rosetta Stone Language Learning application version. 

2.  A service required for activation is not started on your computer. To resolve this, please close Rosetta Stone and follow these steps to start the service:
  1. Right-click the My Computer icon
  2. On the menu that appears, click Manage
  3. In the Computer Management window, open Services and Applications
  4. Double-click to open Services
  5. On the right side of the window, locate the FLEXnet Licensing Service
  6. Right-click on FLEXnet Licensing Service
  7. On the menu that appears, click Start
  8. Close all open windows
  9. Open Rosetta Stone and activate your software.

On Windows Vista, 7, 8, or 10

Version 3:

  2. On the right side of the window, locate the FLEXnet Licensing Service
  3. Right-click on FLEXnet Licensing Service
  4. On the menu that appears, click Start
  5. Close all open windows
  6. Open Rosetta Stone and activate your software.
For Windows 10: 
  1. Press the Windows logo key Windows logo key +S to open Search.
  2. Type in: services.msc and hit Enter.
  3. On the right side of the window, locate the FLEXnet Licensing Service
  4. Right-click on FLEXnet Licensing Service
  5. On the menu that appears, click Start
  6. Close all open windows
  7. Open Rosetta Stone and activate your software.
