Error 4112

This error indicates content from Rosetta Stone® language files are missing or corrupt. This could be caused for the following reasons:

  • A non-default install location was chosen for your Language CDs and Rosetta Stone® is unable to find the specified drive.
  • Content as been removed or corrupt.

On Windows Vista, 7, 8, or 10.

If you are receiving the 4112 error message and you're using Windows Vista, 7, 8, or 10 please follow the instructions below.

You need to reset the installation path to default and reinstall your Language Levels:

Windows Vista and 7:

1. For Windows Vista and 7:  Click Windows Start  and in the Search type: %programdata% then press Enter on your keyboard.



Windows 8:
1.  Right click on the Windows button on your keyboard and click on Search. Type in %programdata% and hit Enter on your keyboard as shown below:

Windows 10:
1.  Press the Windows logo key Windows logo key +S to open Search. Then type in %programdata% and hit enter as shown below:

2. A new window will appear. Double-click on the folder named Rosetta Stone then Language Training.

3. Delete the file dynamicstoredpaths.xml and products.xml .

4. On your desktop double-click Rosetta Stone icon to launch the program.

5. Click Add a Language Level .

6. Insert a Language Level disk into your CD drive and click Continue .

7. Accept the default install location.

8. Once the Language Level installation is complete you'll be prompted to Continue or Add More . If you have additional Language Levels, click Add More. If you don't have additional Levels to install, click Continue .

 

On Mac OS X

If you are receiving the 4112 error message and you're using Mac, please follow the instructions below.

You need to verify permissions for Rosetta Stone's Content folder:

1. Double click on and Library then Application Support.

2. Ctrl + Click on Rosetta Stone and click Get Info (See fig. 1).

a. Click the Padlock and enter your password.

b. Change all Privileges to Read and Write .

c. Click the Gear button, then Apply to Enclosed , then OK.

3. Go to your Applications folder and launch .

If you still receive error 4112, then quit Rosetta Stone and proceed to the next step.

You need to re-install your Language Levels since some of the files are probably corrupt or missing:

1. Double click on , Library, Application Support, Rosetta Stone, and then Language Training.

2 . Delete the file dynamicstoredpaths.xml .

3. Go to your Applications folder and launch the Rosetta Stone application.

4. Click Preferences icon , Manage Languages, then Add a Language Level . Insert your Language Level CD into your CD/DVD-ROM drive and click Continue .

5. You will receive the prompt "This Language Level already exists on your computer. Are you sure you want to reinstall the existing Language files?" or the message seen below. Click Yes .

6. Accept the default install location.

7. Once the Language Level installation is complete you will be prompted to Continue or Add More . If you have additional Language Levels, click Add More. If you do not have additional Levels to install, click Continue .



On Windows XP

If you are receiving the 4112 error message and you're using Windows XP, please follow the instructions below.

You will need to reset the installation path to default and reinstall your Language Levels:

1. Double-click My Computer  , (C:) drive  then Documents and Settings .

2. Go to Tools , then Folder Options.

3. Click the View tab, and then Show Hidden Files and Folders. Click OK.

4. Double-click the folder Application Data , then Rosetta Stone, and finally TOTALe .

5. Delete the file dynamicstoredpaths.xml.

6. On your desktop double click  to launch the program.

7. Click Preferences icon  , Manage Languages, then Add a Language Level Insert your Language Level CD into your CD/DVD-ROM drive and click Continue .

8. You will receive the prompt “This Language Level already exists on your computer. Are you sure you want to reinstall the existing Language files?” or the message seen below. Click Yes .

9. Accept the default install location.

10. Once the Language Level installation is complete you will be prompted to Continue or Add Another Level . If you have additional Language Levels, click Add Another Level. If you do not have additional Levels to install, click Continue .
