This application offers you the experience of the same speaking, reading, grammar, and pronunciation activities that you’re practicing in Rosetta Stone Foundations® on your computer. A constant internet connection is necessary, as the progress you make on your mobile device will sync with your main computer.

Downloading the app

 

There are two ways to get the Learn Languages application on to your device:

Download from your device

1. Open the App Store on your device.

2. Search for “Rosetta Stone, Ltd.”

3. Tap on the Learn Languages: Rosetta Stone icon.

4. Tap the “Free” button to download the application.


Downloading from the iTunes Store

iTunes needs to be installed on your computer before downloading the Learn Languages application. We recommend using the latest version of iTunes. For any issues related to iTunes troubleshooting, please refer to Apple Support.

1. Connect your device to the computer using a USB cable.

2. Open iTunes and type “Rosetta Stone, Ltd.” in the Search Store field.

3. Locate the Learn Languages: Rosetta Stone application, and click on it. You'll see the app homepage containing detailed information (reviews, instructions, screenshots, etc.).

4. Click on the “Free” button, when you're ready to download the application.

5. Sign-in to download from the iTunes Store.

6. Select your device in the iTunes window and "sync" your device.

Signing in

 

There are three ways to sign in to the Learn Languages application on your device:

Sign in through Safari

1. After installing and updating the Learn Languages application, open Safari and navigate to your organization’s Rosetta Stone® Access Portal.

2. Bookmark the URL for your organization’s Rosetta Stone Access Portal.

3. Sign in at this website using your Rosetta Stone log-in credentials. When you tap “Launch Rosetta Stone,” the program will launch in the Learn Languages application.

Sign in through the Learn Languages application

1. After installing and updating the Learn Languages application, open the app on your device.

2. Tap on the "Enterprise and Education Learners" option.

3. Here you can enter your username, password, and Online Portal, which is part of your organization’s Rosetta Stone Access Portal.
For example, if your organization’s Rosetta Stone Access Portal is “http://example-totale.rosettastoneenterprise.com”, you should enter “example-totale” into this field. If your organization’s Rosetta Stone Access Portal is “http://example.rosettastoneclassroom.com”, you should enter “example” into this field.

4. After entering your username, password, and Online Portal, tap “Sign In”.

LMS/Single Sign-On Learners

1. After installing and updating the Learn Languages application, open Safari and navigate to your organization’s LMS or learning portal.

2. Bookmark the URL for your organization’s LMS or learning portal.

3. Sign in to your LMS or learning portal and navigate to the launch link for accessing the Rosetta Stone Access Portal.

4. Once you have landed within the Rosetta Stone Access Portal, click “Launch Rosetta Stone” and the Learn Languages application will launch.

Signing out


Note: The instructions below only apply to those using Safari to launch the Learn Languages application.

1. When you are finished using the Learn Languages application, minimize the app by pressing the “home” button on your device.

2. After returning to the home screen, tap the Safari icon.

3. When Safari opens, it will navigate directly to your organization’s Rosetta Stone Access Portal. Here you can tap, “sign out”.

How to access the Settings menu

 
User-added image The Settings button is located on the application’s home screen. Tap this button and then choose the "Settings" option.

In the Settings menu you will be able to turn off Speech Recognition, change Speech Precision, set your voice type, turn off the feature to continue automatically to the next screen, and disable sounds for correct and incorrect answers.

In-activity options
 

User-added imageClicking the “Pause” button in the bottom corner of an activity screen will reveal the lesson learning path along the bottom of the screen and a “return home” icon in the top-left corner of the screen. You can also access the “Show Answers” icon from this screen. Clicking the "Show Answers" icon will temporarily pause the activity and display the answers on the screen.

The Learn Languages application has the capability for you to zoom in to the text and images as you move through the lessons.

Will my progress sync?


Yes! The time that you spend in the Learn Languages mobile application will be counted in your program usage report. The progress that you make in this app will sync with your online account, and vice versa.

Practice your new language on the go with the Rosetta Stone Language Companion™. Download the exercises and you’ll be able to practice and improve your new language anytime, anywhere! Progress that you make in this application does not sync with Rosetta Stone Foundations, but the app is a great way to gain extra exposure to your target language.

Signing in


1. Download the Rosetta Stone Laguage Companion from the App Store.

2. Open the Settings on your device.

3. Scroll down and select “TOTALe” from near the bottom of your Settings menu.

4. Here you can enter the Online Portal, which is the first part of your organization’s Rosetta Stone Access Portal.
For example, if your organization’s Rosetta Stone Access Portal is “http://example-totale.rosettastoneenterprise.com”, you should enter “example-totale” into this field.

5. Open the Rosetta Stone Language Companion application on your device, and sign in with your Rosetta Stone username and password.

Available activities

There are three available exercises per every Core Lesson in the Rosetta Stone Language Companion application. These include vocabulary, speaking, and pronunciation activities. In order to complete an exercise, tap "Download" to download the content. Once the download is complete, you will see the "Start" button for the activity. Tap "Start" to begin! Once an activity has been downloaded, it can be completed without a WiFi, 3G, or 4G connection.

How to access the Settings menu

Will my progress sync?

 

The time that you spend in the Rosetta Stone Language Companion application for Apple devices is not counted in your program usage report. This application is designed for extra review of your lessons, and is meant for additional practice when you cannot be at a computer.

I receive error MC5004, MC5005 or MC5006 when I sign in


These errors mean the Rosetta Stone Language Companion was unable to establish an Internet connection.

Here's how to fix it:

Check your Internet connection

1. Open Safari on your mobile device

2. Are you able to navigate to a website? If not, ensure you are connected to a WiFi network and it has an Internet connection

Make sure your date, time, and time zone are correct for your current location

1. Open the Settings on your device, then tap on "General", then "Date & Time"; ensure your date, time, and time zone are set correctly

2. Restart your device and attempt to sign in to the Rosetta Stone Langauge Companion

How much data do Rosetta Stone Language Companion lessons consume?


Prior to any content download, the initial download of the Rosetta Stone Language Companion to your device will consume about 6MB of data. Individual lesson downloads consume between 1MB to 6MB of data.

"Rosetta Stone Would Like to Access the Microphone"


You will be prompted to allow Rosetta Stone access to your device's microphone. You should see an initial message containing this request: "Rosetta Stone Would Like to Access the Microphone". Selecting "OK" will enable speaking activities in the application; selecting "Don't Allow" will disable all speaking activities.

If you wish to edit the microphone settings, you can do so at any time by opening the Settings on your device. Next, tap on Privacy and then on Microphone. You can then enable or disable the microphone access for the application.
